Catch Tooth Decay and Disease Early with Dental X-Rays

One of the most important and effective screening tools your dentist uses to identify potential dental conditions is the dental x-ray. During your annual visit to College Park Dental your dentist will encourage you to receive both bitewing and a panoramic dental x-ray. These x-rays occur early in your visit from the convenience of your cleaning suite. This allows the dentist to review your x-ray results with you before the end of your visit and recommend any necessary follow up care.

If you are concerned about receiving dental radiation, rest assured. There is no reason to be concerned when receiving x-rays unless you have an underlying health condition or are pregnant. Be sure to disclose either of these conditions to your dentist at the time of your visit.

Dental x-rays are safe, important ways to screen your entire mouth for decay, bone issues and disease such as:

  • Tooth decay.
  • Infection.
  • Advancement of gum disease.
  • Mineralization and condition of your teeth and their roots.
  • Jaw alignment and condition.
  • Facial bone composition.
  • Tumors.
  • Abscesses.

The benefit of receiving dental x-rays, in terms of screening for these conditions, far outweighs any risk posed by light dental radiation.

Don’t let an important dental concern or condition go unaddressed because you’re unsure of exposing yourself to dental x-rays. Contact College Park Dental for more information regarding dental x-rays and preventive dental care today.
